MURRAY, Ky. - Services for Wayne Williams, 89, of Murray will be at 10 a.m. Monday at University Church of Christ, where he was a member, deacon and elder. John Dale, Richard Youngblood and Charlie Bazzell will officiate. Burial will be at Murray Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Williams died at 11:16 a.m. Thursday at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he graduated from Murray State University, University of Kentucky and Southern Illinois University. Mr. Williams was a high school teacher of vocational agriculture for five years, a conservationist for the Kentucky Department of Conservation for nine years, and worked in teacher education for Murray State University for 23 years. He was a member of the Civitans and American Legion.
Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn Wallis and Jo Ann Mathis, both of Murray; one son, Ernest Wayne Williams of Louisville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilly Evelyn Atkins Williams. His parents were Joseph Wesley Williams and Nova G. McClure Williams.
